At 25, I Sat Crying Before My Grandma, worried that I wasn’t doing well at work & that my manager didn’t like me. Even though this happened 20 years ago, I can still remember the seriousness in her eyes as she gazed at me from across the small table in her tiny Brooklyn apartment. She asked me 3 questions:

Do you have food on your table?
Do you have a roof over your head?
Are you healthy?

My answer was yes to all. She replied, leaning back in her chair, “Then, you already have everything – all the rest is just extra.” She continued, “We once had everything when I was a girl and then one day it was all gone…everything was gone…” Tears welled up in her eyes as she recounted her family’s life long struggle to survive The Depression. Even though she left this earth not too long after that conversation, I have been forever thankful to my Grandma for teaching me the true meaning of gratitude. I wake up feeling blessed each day that I have never had to shed those kinds of tears. Gratitude starts with how you approach your toothbrush. Here’s how I approach mine.

Daring Greatly: At the end of our life, the greatest regret is not the life we lead, but the life we didn’t lead. In Week 4 of the ReclaimedBrain Resiliency Workshop, we learn to step into the arena as the greatest, most authentic version of ourselves. Despite our challenging environments and what the critics might say, we learn to dare greatly, reach our highest potential and share our gifts with the world.

Finding Your Authenticity is as simple as doing what brings you joy, even if you get a few bumps and bruises along the way. In my case it, it was a chipped tooth from face planting into the island while dancing for my kiddos to Billy Joel over breakfast 😲 …

Me Without My Armor: Many wear an armor made of perfection because they believe it will shield them from judgement & ridicule. One day, the armor gets too heavy and they realize it’s keeping them from sharing their talents, creativity & authenticity. They believe this barrier will protect them from failure, but it instead blocks out joy, connection and bravery. In Week 2 of the ReclaimedBrain Resiliency Workshop, we remove our armor and reveal our truth and our talents. Here’s me without my armor:
